Therapeutic Botox training for dentists

Therapeutic Botox for TMJ and migraine

Gain confidence administering therapeutic Botox with two distinct approaches, taught with careful patient selection, precise injection protocols and thorough documentation.

Why it belongs in a TMD practice

A precise tool, used in the right hands

For some patients with muscle-related jaw pain or recurring headaches, therapeutic botulinum toxin can be a useful part of care. It works best inside a complete plan: a proper evaluation, conservative therapy, and clear goals that you review over time.

The program treats Botox as a clinical skill with real responsibility. You learn who is a candidate and who is not, how to obtain informed consent, how to find your landmarks, and how to record every dose and response so you can judge results honestly.

Check your scope before you inject. Whether a dentist may use botulinum toxin, and for which indications, depends on your state or province and your licensing body. Some therapeutic uses are off-label. Confirm training and permit requirements with your regulator.

Two approaches

The TMJ protocol and the migraine protocol

Protocol one

TMJ protocol

For patients whose pain comes mainly from the muscles of chewing, used within a broader TMD care plan that also includes education, self-care and appliance therapy where indicated.

Protocol two

Migraine protocol

For suitable patients with recurring headache patterns, taught with attention to history, candidate selection and coordination with the patient’s physician.
